Spirulina is 100% natural and highly nutritious algae being used as a rich food source or dietary supplement. It contains over 100 nutrients, more than any other plant, grain or herb. Australian Spirulina, grown in pristine water in the Northern Territory away from any pollution sources, was found to be the purest in a 2013 research comparing 25 Spirulina products grown around the world.

Spirulina contains rich vegetable protein (3 to 4 times higher than fish or beef), Multi Vitamins (Vitamin B 12 is 3 to 4 times higher than animal liver), which is particularly lacking in a vegetarian diet. How much Spirulina powder should I take?

It is advised to take 2.5g to 5g a day for adults which is about 1 to 2 teaspoons respectively. For children under 12 years old the suggested amount is 1.5g to 2.5g a day which is 1/2 to 1 teaspoon respectively.

The full daily dosage can either be taken once or split throughout the day.

How should I take Markwell Spirulina:

Add Spirulina powder to water, unsweetened juice or fruit/veg shake. Blend well and consume immediately. You can also sprinkle onto cereal or yoghurt.

After taking Spirulina, avoid alcohol, soft drinks or coffee for at least 30 minutes as these drinks can destroy some of the Spirulina nutrients and enzymes.

It is recommended to take at least an extra half litre of water a day.
